Everything you need to know on how to immortalize your PB Red.

There is a lot more that goes into preparing bones and building these skeletons than meets the eye. Many fish take over 12 months of bone treatment before they are ready to be articulated. These bones can be delicate; and if not handled correctly can be easily damaged and/or will not stand the test of time.

In my tutorials I will detail required the processes of;

·        Bone preparation,

·        Step-by-step build order and bone placement,

·        Mounting and finishing’s,

·        Tips, Do's and Don’ts,

·        Alternate strategies (where possible) to suit individual’s potential capacities to complete certain steps.

It is recognized that there are numerous methods experts around the world utilize to create similar pieces. Techniques are often controversial and are largely based on personal experiences. Suitable methods can vary between different species of fish.

The tutorials are tailored to specific species in order to create lasting mounts while fulfilling the following requirements:

1.     Use of affordable, accessible and non-hazardous chemicals where possible.

2.     Processes that are easily followed by individuals with little to no previous experience.

3.     Result in a mount that is anatomically accurate and will last.

  • Red Emperor
  • Mangrove Jack
  • Coral Trout Species
  • Bream
  • Most slow growing reef species with dense bone.
  • Flathead (articulation is drastically different)

Not Suitable for:
